Search ‘Results’ the picture way!

‘Pictures speak a thousand words!’ Pinterest has come up with the coolest search algorithm, that is to search with ‘Pictures’.Greater advancements in AI(Artificial Intelligence) is reforming the search standards now. With the Picture searching algorithm finding a peak hit; It would eventually devoid the usage of keywords to search.

Prior to the introduction of the ‘picture’ search algorithm, Pinterest landed up with the newest grand! It brought an ‘image-recognition’ feature to search pins.

Image-Recognition came into play with Pinterest’s ‘Lens’ app. The beta version is said to be available for the Android and IOS. ‘Lens’ uses machine learning and computer vision to recognise an object and search results accordingly.

Recent updates from Pinterest states it is teaming up with Samsung, to power the Image searches, along with the massive AI(Artificial Intelligence) build. Pinterest also introduces new visual Search Features: “Shop the Look” and “Instant Ideas”.

  • “Shop the Look”: Allows you to browse related products, and tapping on specific parts of the pin, will help you find products you could buy.
  • “Instant Ideas”: Provides topics based on objects you come across in the pin.To browse a new inspirational topic, you could tap on the circle at the bottom right corner to choose new inspirational topics.

Powering the Image Search algorithm, Pinterest is expected to generate a revenue of $500 million this year, as Recode reported in March.
